Saskatoon High School Mass Choir

270 singers from 6 High Schools filled the front of Knox United Church in Saskatoon on Sunday afternoon for choral event organized by the Saskatoon Public Schools.  RJC's own music director Richard Janzen was the guest conductor for the mass choir. After each choir sang two numbers on their own, they combined forces for 4 songs. Richard was impressed by the students' hard work and boundless enthusiasm for singing. What a great event!

King's Singers Workshop with RJC

The King's Singers met a number of choirs (including some RJC singers) in Saskatoon for a choral workshop on Thursday morning. In addition to hearing each choir sing and spending some time giving encouragement and  instruction, they gave an impromptu performance of "I'm Yours" by Jason Mrazz.

The RJC Choir (made up of students from Concert Choir who ponied up the $10 for the workshop) sang "Mo Li Hua" - a Chinese Folk Song.

We shared the workshop space with a community choir from Estevan. Here Timothy Wayne-Wright (countertenor) and Christopher Gabbitas (baritone 2) work with the RJC Choir (who are off camera) on musical specifics.
Timothy Wayne-Wright (countertenor), Paul Phoenix (tenor) and David Hurley (countertenor) pose with RJC students Rachel, Paradise, Holly, Jaye and Gwen.

Christopher Bruerton (baritone 1) joined the King's Singers a mere month ago. He is the first non-Brit to sing with the group. Christopher is from New Zealand. Here he talks with Kirsten Hamm and Rachel Dueck.

The RJC group with four of the King's Singers. The other two (baritone Christopher Gabbitas and bass Jonathan Howard) were probably running to the airport to hold the plane for the other guys, as they were immediately leaving for the United States.
