Theatre Arts Class presents an evening of One Acts Plays

The theatre arts class finished their two public performances recently. Great energy was given from the enthusiastic crowds and lots of laughs were had! The class had been directing and preparing the 5 one-act plays for the last month. If you saw the plays, you know the fruition of their work was delightful!

Sask Valley Music Festival Awards

The Sask Valley Music Festival held their awards concert on Sunday evening, March 21. The concert highlighted some of the performances from the competition week. At the concert several RJC students were involved as soloists and Chorale also sang one piece.

Congratulations to all the award winners. RJC highlights include:
  • Baily Neufeld (grade 12) - Vern Klaassen Vocal Rose Bowl (top vocal performer)
  • Lori Pauls (12) - vocal runner up and piano runner up
  • Jamieson Fitzgerald (10) - top musical theatre performance
  • Jocelyn Wiebe (11)  and Katie McLellan (11) - best piano duet
  • Chorale - top mixed choir

    Bill Sykes – A nasty, nasty abusive villain in his prime, 40ish
     
    Nancy – a graduate of Fagin’s academy, in love with Bill, 23
                       
    Bet – in Fagin’s academy, idolizes Nancy, 13ish

    Mr. Bumble – The Beadle – large pompous man, mid-50s
               
    Widow Corney – sharp-tongued, domineering widow, workhouse mistress, 50ish
               
    Mr. Sowerberry – undertaker, skeletal, 45
               
    Mrs. Sowerberry – undertaker’s domineering wife, shrewish, 45
               
    Charlotte Sowerberry – Sowerberry's boy-crazy young daughter, 13

    Noah Claypole – undertaker’s lanky, gangly apprentice, 19

    Mr. Brownlow – elderly gentleman, wealthy, aristrocratic

    Guys and Pies Performances
