Fall Choir Workshop with SYO

The Saskatoon Youth Orchestra descended upon the RJC campus for a weekend workshop, and RJC joined them with a choir workshop of their own.

40 students from RJC gave up a beautiful-weather weekend to explore some great music! Temperatures outside hit 30°C which made the rehearsal hall hot at times, but the enthusiasm from the students never cooled!
See a video of the choir and orchestra together at the bottom of this blog entry.

Audrey Falk Janzen donated her time to be the pianist for the weekend. We are fortunate to have such high-calibre musicians in the area who give so much to the school.

Kelsea McLean is the assistant director at RJC for the fall semester. Here she is directing the workshop choir.

Saturday morning Yoga to get the body and mind prepared for a long day of rehearsal. A total of 13 hours of rehearsal for the choir meant some very tired students by the end of Sunday. Tired but also energized.

More rehearsal outside.

A Saturday evening bonfire helped the students relax and enjoy each other's company.

Richard Janzen directed a combined piece with the SYO and RJC Choir.

Richard Carnegie is the director of the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra, who have been coming to RJC for their Fall Retreat for 18 years. The close association between RJC and the SYO continues.
